This role is working with another candidate (Nanny/Governess we are recruiting for) as part of a team for a high profile family based in Abuja, Nigeria.  The role of the Teacher is to focus on supporting the children's online education (during COVID-19) with additional teaching in preparation for the new school term. Once school resumes, you will oversee homework and coninue teaching to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the world around them through curricula/themed work.  Due to their young age, there is a strong focus on developing their phonics skills to aid reading ability, as well as mental and written arithmetic.  As all subjects, e.g. English, Mathematics, Science and Topic work is to be covered, you will require sound knowledge gained from your teacher training and experience of teaching in a UK or international school delivering the British Curriculum is essential.  You will also need to plan and prepare teaching and learning resources (not to the extent carried out in school) and utilise a holistic approach that develops the whole child, through practical, play-based and creative learning opportunities. In brief duties include:

  • take to and from school (split between you and the Nanny)

  • teach British Curriculum subjects in line with EYFS/Primary framework/plan and prepare teaching and learning resources/activities to meet lesson objects

  • provide an organised manner of dating and collating work to demonstrate their progress over time for English, Maths, Science and Topic work

  • communicate with teachers, attend school events, parent evenings

  • ensure children have all their school books and homework completed on time

  • manage the children's weekly and daily schedules

  • provide regular feedback to the parents

  • ability to be flexible, adaptable, proactive and professional

  • someone creative, active and fun, who can make learning interesting and fun

  • go for walks, play games, visit museums, the zoo etc.with both children and the Nanny/Governess

  • arrange outdoor activities to develop new skills and opportunities for the children

  • ensure the health, safety and overall well-being of the children whilst in your charge

  • promote and encourage children to be independent, polite and respectful; be a good role model

A family based in Abuja, Nigeria are seeking a highly experienced Nanny/Governess for their twins who are almost 5 years of age.  The children attend an international school and speak English.  They have also been learning French and Portuguese with their previous Nanny and would like this to continue.  Therefore, the familiy welcome either an English native speaker with French or French native with fluent English, both spoken and written to that of a native speaker. The role involves:

  • getting the children up, washed and dressed

  • preparation and readiness for school e.g. breakfast, lunch boxes, P.E kit

  • take to and from school

  • plan activities and play dates with the teacher (you will be working with)

  • teaching French (and Portuguese would be a bonus)

  • keep the children's room and play area clean and tidy

  • encourage the children to put things away and to be independent

A great role for a highly experienced, organised and proactive person with managerial skills to manage other staff, and handle 4 energetic and lovely children who each  have their own nanny.  You will be responsible for overseeing all duties relating to the children:

  • preparation and readiness for school (breakfast, lunch boxes, taking to school)

  • collect from school and oversee all activities, play dates and tutors

Duties & Responsibilities

A Bahrani family who is very hands-on with their only child aged just 8 months, is seeking a Nanny/Governess. Someone who has a background in educational development and equally understands the psychology of child development to meet the child's developmental milestones, for example, their cognittive, social, emotional, language and physical needs.  The family also requires a candidate that will:

  • establish a daily routine

  • engage with the child providing age appropriate activities to stimulate the child's curiosity, as the little girl is very bright and needs someone that can challenge her to reach her full potential

  • interact through communication in English and participate in play based learning to encourage and develop new skills (reading, nursery rhymes, songs, painting, building, explore surroundings etc.)

  • undertake all childcare duties pertaining to the child (no housework or cooking etc., as fully-staffed), such as feeding and changing

  • care, nurture and provide a safe and happy environment ensuring the child is well-cared for

Start date: July (as soon as flights resume).
